FAITH FORMATION:

Mission Statement:

Everyone is a gift of God and deserves support.  We believe that involvement in quality religious education serves to nurture and encourage our growth in faith.  The aim of all educational activities will be to integrate faith and life through study, reflection, prayer, service and discussion with others.

 

St. Peter Faith Formation Classes:

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd - (K4 - 1st grade)

Elementary - (1st grade - 5th grade)

Middle School - (6th grade - 8th grade)

High School - (9th grade - 12th grade)

Faith formation classes follow the academic calendar.

Sacramental Preparation:

First Holy Communion:

First Holy Communion preparation is for children in the second grade or above.

     3 First Communion Workshops

     First Communion Mini Retreat

     First Communion Practice Workshop and Prayer Service

The Sacrament of First Holy Communion is received at a special Mass on the second Saturday in May, (Mother's Day Weekend).

Reconciliation:

Children who are preparing for First Holy communion are also prepared for the Sacrament of First Reconciliation.

     2 Reconciliation Workshops

The Sacrament of First Reconciliation is received at the Advent Parish Reconciliation Service.

Confirmation:

Confirmation preparation is for teens who are in High School and have received the Sacraments of Baptism, Reconciliation and First Communion.  Preparation is a one year process and begins in the ninth grade.

     Classes are on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m.

     Confirmation Day of Reflection

     Confirmation Practice and Prayer service

The Sacrament of Confirmation is received in the spring.

 

Altar Servers:

Children who have received their first communion and are in the 4th grade, or older, are eligible to become Altar Servers.  Altar Server training is scheduled through the Faith Formation Office.  Please call Alma Small at the Faith Formation Office at 822-1605 for more information.

Coffee & Conversation - Explore the Cathechism of the Catholic Church - Sunday mornings @9:30 a.m. in the Mark & Luke Room.

Senior Luncheon, (Fellowship Luncheon) - Fun, Fellowship, Bingo with prizes, great food and a guest speaker!  The first Monday of every month @ 11:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall during the school year.

Child Lures Preventive Training...Attention all teachers, catechists, parents, volunteers, coaches, etc.  The Archdiocese of San Antonio requires that everyone who works with children attend a Child Lures Workshop every three years.  If you are planning on working or volunteering your time with children this summer or beginning of the fall school year, this workshop is a must.  There is no cost to attend.   For more information about the next Child Lures Workshop please call the Faith Formation Office at 822-1605.
